We all know we need to eat right and exercise. How can we become more present and make the next right choice especially when it comes to eating? Let's connect eating to actually enjoying the process with gratitude and acknowledge where our food came from.

Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.

Family eating well HWC Nutrition

We all know we need to eat right and exercise. We’ve learned these things in school since we were kids and even by our parents to “eat our veggies”. What’s stopping us from making the choices for ourselves and our family that prevents us from living a healthier life? There’s a lot to it. From what can feel like an endless cycle of work, to a busy family life, to social-economic divides, eating well with balance can seem like a very daunting goal. It can be exhausting sifting through nutrition and dieting information, knowing who to trust and what works for you. You may have even experienced the pitfalls of yo-yo dieting or even the suffering from a medical condition that requires a specialized diet. If you’re looking to start on a journey for healthy lifestyle and want someone to help you discover and achieve your goals, we’re here.

It’s reframing our relationship with food, having real awareness and acceptance of our own body type, setting realistic goals and truly enjoying the experience of eating and the benefits from that nourishment.

When considering changing your diet you may started on some fad you heard from a friend, thought that healthy food is expensive, or that you’d have to visit another grocery store, or that you won’t be able to even enjoy going with friends to a restaurant you love, etc. In the end, we just want to live well. And that’s where we’d like to help you escape any diet traps and genuinely guide you toward simple yet potentially life-changing habits to improve the relationship between your body and food.

HWC welcomes Registered Dietitian, Nargis Akhter to our team!

Diet and nutrition are often used interchangeably. Nutrition is a biochemical and physiological process by which an organism uses food to support its life. Diet, on the other hand, is commonly used for a particular diet or food.
Today, there are over a hundred diets in the market. Similarly, thousands of articles & youtube videos are available. This information/misinformation overload is creating a confusing situation. For an average person, it is hard to decide.
Interestingly, despite an array of weight loss strategies, the latest obesity figures for the US stands at 42.4%!
As a professional it is important for me to provide you with the right information, so that you must make an intelligent decision, rather than blindly following a fad diet.
I practice holistic nutrition, that means the health of a person is an interplay between physical, chemical, mental, emotional and spiritual processes of one’s life and being. My definition of nutrition is that ‘ Nutrition is not just What We Eat, it is also How We Think and How We Feel.’ I believe that practicing mindfulness brings more self awareness and a blissful mental state that is not just good for yourself but also for the people around you.
Mindfulness helps you tune-in with your body. Mindfulness helps improve physical health in a number of ways. Mindfulness can: help relieve stress, treat heart disease, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, , improve sleep, and alleviate gastrointestinal difficulties.
